Tony Wroten Tweets his Top Schools – UW fourth

tony wrotenBelow are three Tweets from Tony Wroten today. Not sure if he was listing #’s 1-4 in order of preference at this point, or not.

my top 4 tweet world. its finally out

1. syracuse 2. villanova 3. oregon 4. washington

seattle U, uconn, miami, kentucky, st johns, and seton hall is in da mix too

Wroten is the Garfield High guard, ranked as one of the top five or so players in the 2011 recruiting class. He’s currently recovering from a torn ACL he suffered playing football this year, and is not expected to play during his junior season of high school basketball.

Based on what I’ve heard, and today’s list, I’d have to think Wroten is itching to go play on the east coast. Syracuse and Villanova are big programs with recent histories of success. But, to also be considering St. John’s and Seton Hall?

Seeing UW listed last is an early indication to me, at least, that UW just can’t be considered the favorite for Tony anymore.

When will Enes Kanter actually sign his LOI? Any other recruiting news, such as Gary Bell and Christian Behrens? Those guys look really good. Getting one or both would certainly ease not getting Wroten.

How would you rate our recruiting overall? Does it need a boost? Losing Coach Dollar had to harm recruiting at least somewhat. We lost Smith (what was he thinking?), we may lose Wroten. Besides Kanter, who may not stick around long, no top players seem to be lining up for us.

Would Coach Romar be wise to shop in March-April for a top, star-in-the-making assistant, one who could coach and recruit on Coach Dollar’s level?

I don’t agree that Wroten is not a Washington lean at this point.

I have heard that he is a great talent and all but if he goes out of state and more importantly, out of conference then he becomes out of sight, out of mind.

As we have seen from Josh Smith situation and the subsequent signing of Kanter, there will always be bigger fishes in the sea. I am confident that Coach Ro will come up with the best option 1A if this dude does end up signing elsewhere. And from what I have heard, he seems to be real “Me, Me, Me” type of a guy anyway.

I would say Wroten is a decent UW lean at this point. I would be surprised if he didn’t go to UW. He seems to love all the attention and he does have an attraction to the east coast, but it just seems like a flirting type thing to me. He has so many people in his hear re UW and I am under the impression that he himself is pitching UW to other recruits based on a few tidbits I have read/heard elsewhere. With all that being said, I am not excessively concerned about landing Wroten or not. Sure, I want him, but I want Norvel Pelle, Angelo Chol & maybe even Gary Bell more. 2011 is shaping up to be a potentially HUGE class for Romar that could really shape the program for years to come.

@oldtacomadawg I would say Romar is doing well in recruiting. Smith wanted to go to LA. Sometimes there is nothing you can do with a kid that has a dream to go somewhere. Washington has a decent shot at landing a top 10 national class in 2011. Coach Romar has already gone out and hired that relationship building assistant last year in Chillious. It’s my understand he is the man responsible for landing Kanter. I don’t think we have anything to worry about regarding recruiting. If we keep winning and put a few more studs in the league we will have a very attractive package to sell recruits and parents.
