Maui Bracket Released

UW Fans, it’s time to rejoice. We got our wish. A potential second round match up with UK in the second round looms for the Maui Invitational. Not to get too far ahead of ourselves, as we will have a tough test against Bennett’s Virginia squad in the first round. But if the cards play out the way we want them to, we will have our chance to have our Rivalry game we have hoped for since April.

More to come soon!

here’s some pro analysis from ESPN’s Andy Katz about the favorites of the maui invitational and another one of the tournaments: http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=5440437&categoryid=2459792. theres also a snippet where they talk about washington’s chances to win it all.

I think Katz gives a good assessment of the Huskies. We have a lot of returning talent and veterans but we also tend to struggle early in the season. It will be interesting to see what happens. Hopefully our guards will be able to take control and make up for usual early season struggles.

Who’s in for whipping UConn in the final? Talk about dream match-ups in terms of rivalry!

As much as I presently hate Kentucky, I still hate UConn about 100x more.

    Dream scenario: the Payback Run

Game one: beat Tony Bennett. That asshole forced us to watch the slowest most boringest basketball while at Pullman.

Game two: beat Kentucky. This needs no explanation. It would be awesome if we embarrassed the shit out of them with a blowout victory.

Game three: beat UConn. Honestly this would be the sweetest victory of all. I saw Rip Hamilton’s game winner on TV at school, and I was in DC in 2006. I’m still not over it. A Maui Tourney title could propel this team to an amazing RPI/poll ranking, and as long as they take care of business in the Pac-10, should equal a high seed.

man if IT was 4-6 inches taller and MBA was solid offensively then this tourney would be ours easily.

If IT were 4-6 inches taller he’d be in the NBA by now :)

lol i think IT actually plays better because he is shorter because hes harder to guard

thats a good point leo. but i would have to disagree. if he was taller then he wouldn’t have to worry about getting blocked inside as much. although, he creates his own open shot. but remember the WV game in the tourney? we got destroyed by their defense and some of their offense because of their height. also if he was a taller we could see him dunk more often in a game.
