Looks like the Huskies have lost out on Turkish center Enes Kanter, who will sign a letter of intent with Kentucky.
Here’s a report from Percy Allen on the future Wildcat (if Kanter can qualify by NCAA standards).
Thanks for coming!

no huge shocker here. I think most of dawg nation thought he was gone after he decommitted from uw. Although this is a huge loss, getting Mr. Jones should be our most immediate concern.
-
We are just waiting for Jones and Ross to be accepted. Package deal. There is no way that Calipari is that good of a recruiter, no way. Money under the table big time.
-
We must have secured Terrence Jones. He fits perfectly into our system, do we think he’ll stay more than a year?
-
Assuming we do get Terrence Jones, I think he will be a two year guy. Given the amount of scorers we have coming back next year, my guess is that IT and MBA will get the lion’s share of point production next year. And if Mr. Ross comes in a package, it will be hard to deny him a scholarship. I think he is just as talented as Terrence Jones at the 2 spot. Much has been made about there not being enough room for another shooting guard. As that may be true, we must get the top talent in the country and build around it. Terrence Ross is a guy who has the size, skill set and the know how to create his own shot. Together these two would sky rocket our recruiting class to easily top 15 in the nation.

I kind of doubt that Kanter or his family got paid, but I would not be surprised if someone tried to proposition them, just as literally all kids of his stature as a pro prospect are normally approached and “felt out” to see if they respond to any sort of premature cohersion.
I could be wrong, but I would think that boosters, shoe guys, agents, etc. may have gone harder on Enes’ coach at Stoneridge to convince him to decommit from Washington and to commit to Kentucky.
I’m not saying that “Tank” was paid, but it is very common for AAU coaches and some high school coaches to get pretty sweet spiffs if they get a kid to go to certain places. I believe that Kentucky under Calipari is one of those places.
UW fans should be very proud in my opinion that their team, under the eye of Lorenzo are one of the programs that absolutely don’t allow that type of stuff around the kids. That is precisely why it is in the best interest of anyone that stands on the other side of the fence to get a kid away from Romar.
In my opinion a kid has his experience in the Washington program under his belt before he deals with those folks and that is much better for him as well on a number of levels.
If a kid is “one and done” that is fine to then start the professional side of his career once his days of playing at Hec-Ed are over and Romar brings a lot of contacts in the NBA, the world of agents, etc. into the mix for the UW program and for kids that are ready to make that jump.
There is virtually no side money from getting a kid to prematurely agree to a deal with an agent or shoe company to be made if a kid goes to UW until the kid leaves UW in my opinion.
An agent or a shoe guy could attempt to contact a kid at UW, but Romar, from what I’m hearing from kids and former players, is probably the most stringent disciplinarian and unwilling to look the other way of any coach out there and will not allow it.
From what I understand there are no boosters at UW who are able to do anything improper with the basketball team or recruiting. Boosters are a major part of the problem around the country when it comes to “getting” highly regarded, blue chip recruits to sign and sometimes even paying existing players to stay.
I believe that Husky fans should be proud of the way that Romar is as above board and clean in this regard as anyone around the country.
