Hey Dawgiedaddy,

I do think the Pac-10 regular season champ makes it. And, the tourney winner, of course. And, if the second place team isn't the tourney winner, I think they'd qualify as a bubble team.

A lot of the media attention about the conference's weakness is because we've recently had 4, 5, or 6 teams make it.

The opinion of alarmist national columnists aside, there's virtually zero chance the Pac-10 regular season champ doesn't make the NCAA Tournament.

Anyhow, that's my opinion. Great comment, though. And thanks for the question...

Well, MM, I guess you got your wish. But for me, I don't really understand why we even care about the pacx race? This year there's no guarantee that the regular-season title will even get you into the NCAA's, let alone get you a high seed. This year the only conference championship that means anything is the Pac10-Tournament title. Until then I just want to win as many games as possible. I could care less about the Pac10 standings. They're pretty much meaningless this year.

I mean, am I missing something? Is there some reason we SHOULD care about the conference standings, 'cause I can't see one. We want the Dawgs to win of course, but I don't see why we should be cheering for teams ahead of us to lose. Doesn't really seem to matter to me. All that matters is how we do.

I can't fault the big men too much in this game. Collectively, they had their best game in a while. Maybe not eye-popping stats, but they played well overall. I liked MBA and how he played defense yesterday. He stood firm on many possessions and did not fly and try to block every shot in his vincinity.

The biggest difference between Casto and MBA is that Casto has great presences down low to dish off to the other post, or to a cutting guard when he is posting up. MBA usually puts up some variation of a hook shot or kicks it straight back out to the guy that threw it to him. If MBA develops of a consistent low post game (wishful thinking), he can incorporate those low post passes for other players to get easy buckets too.

And I really love Holiday in the starting lineup. He complements the other 4 guys well out there. And he jumps out of his mind.. it surprises me sometimes.
