Well laid out and written. Thank you. Here are a few random one-fans-opinions as I think about this upcoming recruiting class:
- Isn’t a little unusual that no one has yet verballed? W/ at least 4 schollie’s available, I would think Romar would have received at least one or two. I don’t recall the last time it has been this late w/o at least one person verbally committing.
- Though that poll was fun and interesting, I don’t care all that much who Romar gets if he can land one or two of those guys…hoping for more than that feels greedy. I’m just grateful Romar has gotten this program to the level that we can even hope for stellar recruits like Brown/Wroten/Chol, etc.

I don’t think it is too unusual that no one has verballed yet. Technically, if you count Kevin Davis as a verbal commit, we already have one. But things could quickly change with verbals as we all know.
If you think back to last year, we only had one verbal commit by end of summer (Desmond Simmons). I think with the occurrences of this past season, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a vast majority of kids wait until the late signing period to decide.
In all honesty, it’s probably the smarter thing to do as you can see where the dominoes will fall and you can even hold out to see how each team performs that year and in the tourney. You also get a better gauge of players leaving teams for the NBA and transfers which creates additional scholarships.
Totally agree that if we get just 1-2 guys of the guys on that list, we would be in good shape. But to know that Washington is being mentioned in the same breath as the elite level schools, we know our program is heading in the right direction. I think it will most likely be Wroten, Brown and Chol to UW when all is said and done. Call me a dreamer, but I think we have a legit shot at those three.

Thanks Craiger. I’m not concerned no one has…just a little surprised…and you’re right, I did forget about Kevin Davis. Also, didn’t some new recruiting rules go into effect this summer for coaches? That may also be why there hasn’t been more activity. Also, I agree that I think it is better when kids wait to make their commitments, I was more just commenting that by now I would have thought at least one person would have given a verbal to UW (but again, I guess Davis did…sure would love to know more about him and the chances of him ever actually playing at UW).
I’ve really got my fingers crossed on Wroten, Brown & Chol as well…don’t want to get excited at the prospect when NONE of them have yet verballed to UW…but it does sound like Romar has good relationships w/ all three and that would be quite the dynamic recruiting class.

New article from ESPN on Brown again showing that he would be a huge get for the dawgs. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/recruiting/basketball/mens/news/story?id=5363582

good find Michael. Looks like ‘Bari is the truth.
Interesting to note too that Jahii Carson widdled down his schools and UW was not on there. I wonder if UW is cooling on him.

Good comparison to Roy. He has that same smoothness to this game. I remember watching Brandon in high school and early on as a Husky. Even though his game wasn’t dominant, he had a certain, smooth style that just looked like an NBA player. If Brown plays defense half as well as Roy, then he’ll have a long career.
